Gloria M. Velazquez, a Shareholder at Nason Yeager Gerson Harris & Fumero, P.A., was named to the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida Board of Directors for the 2022-2024 year at the 92nd Annual Meeting on March 16, 2022.
“I am honored to be named to the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida Board of Directors, as my father also served and provided unwavering support for not only the Boy Scouts, but the Girl Scouts,” Velazquez said. “I am excited to be part of the Board as we prepare for our Centennial celebration. Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida is celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting in Miami and the Keys this year.”
Velazquez’s father, Arnold M. Velazquez, Sr. was a lifelong Boy Scout. He was a Scout in Cuba and upon his arrival to this country while fleeing communism, became active in the Scouting movement. While serving his country in the US Navy, he made it a point to meet other Scouts from around the world.
Extending this legacy, Velazquez grew up as a Scout herself and as a leader to her younger sister’s troop while in college. Later in life, she became a volunteer within the organization and leader for her two daughters, continuing to honor the values of building courage, confidence in our youth to make the world a better place.
“I am proud to continue the Scouting legacy my father left me and happy to have received the support of my firm to my commitment to giving back,” she said.
With more than 25 years of experience in Government, Land Use and Zoning, Velazquez is a member of the Nason Yeager’s Government, Environmental and Land Use Team. Velazquez focuses her practice in the areas of land acquisition, land use and zoning, permitting and local government representations.
