Philip DiComo is a shareholder at Nason Yeager. Mr. DiComo serves as outside general counsel to a variety of both commercial and nonprofit corporations across various industries and tax statuses. Mr. DiComo is widely recognized for his vast knowledge of, and frequently speaks on, nonprofit governance, policy and regulations.
Mr. DiComo’s nonprofit practice encompasses the full lifecycle of tax-exempt organizations, including formation and structuring, obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status, nonprofit governance and board counseling, donor agreements, co-venture agreements, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, nonprofit mergers and acquisitions, and complex transactions involving public charities, private foundations, social clubs, and other exempt organizations. He also maintains an active practice in emerging companies, entertainment and licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and executive employment arrangements.
In 2014, Mr. DiComo earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College. This designation positions him as a leader in the philanthropy sector, enabling him to counsel charitable organizations on achieving financial sustainability while helping donors structure their philanthropic giving to maximize both impact and tax benefits.
Mr. DiComo’s path to law is distinctive. Before practicing law, he spent 15 years working in nonprofit public broadcasting, serving both television and radio stations. This firsthand operational experience within nonprofit organizations gives him unique insight into the day-to-day challenges facing tax-exempt entities. He attended law school in the evening while continuing to work full-time in broadcasting.
A Florida native, Mr. DiComo enjoys simple pleasures like getting up early, sitting outside with his coffee, listening to and watching the birds. He also enjoys reading, working in his yard and is, of course, a fan of all Florida Gator athletics. Mr. DiComo was recognized in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®.
