Laura S. Olympio is an attorney in Nason Yeager’s Environmental, Governmental & Land Use practice group, where she represents clients in environmental, land use, administrative, and regulatory matters at the local, state, and federal levels.
Her practice focuses on permitting, compliance, and governance issues, including environmental resource permitting, consumptive use permitting, water supply, and regulatory matters involving agencies such as the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida’s water management districts, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She also provides strategic guidance and direction on a variety of environmental issues, including eminent domain, conservation easements, public records, public/private partnerships, and alternative water supply projects.
Laura also has a broad range of litigation experience representing clients in state, federal, and administrative proceedings. She has represented government agencies and private clients before the Division of Administrative Hearings in permit challenges, rule challenges, variance proceedings, and bid protests.
Laura previously served as a Staff Attorney with the South Florida Water Management District, providing litigation and legal support on a variety of issues such as the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, Lake Okeechobee operations, tribal matters, water shortage, and rulemaking. She also represented the agency in civil litigation addressing public records issues, sunshine law, quiet title actions, permit enforcement cases, and water use disputes.
She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Central Florida. Laura is admitted to practice in Florida, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
