Nason Yeager Attorneys Named Among “The Best Lawyers in America” for 2024
Nason Yeager Gerson Harris & Fumero attorneys have been named to the 2024 list of Best Lawyers. John Fumero, Nathan “Nat” Nason, Gloria Velazquez and Gary Walk were selected by their peers for recognition in the 30th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America®. Katie Branscum and Kyle Horth made the Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” list.
Recognition by Best Lawyers is based solely on reviews from peers in the legal industry. The process begins with a nomination. Those nominations are then divided by location and practice area, and then evaluated by peers based on professional expertise. Those who receive high reviews undergo an authentication process to ensure they are currently practicing law and are in good standing.
This is the sixth year in a row that shareholder Nathan “Nat” Nason has made the list. He was honored for his work in three practice areas: Commercial Litigation, Litigation – Environmental and Litigation – Land Use and Zoning. John Fumero was honored for his work in Environmental Law. Gloria M. Velazquez was honored for her work in Land Use and Zoning Law and Real Estate Law. Both are making the list for the fourth year in a row. Gary Walk was honored for work in Real Estate Law.
This is the fourth year in a row Katie Branscum has been recognized for her work in Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Securities/Capital Markets Law. Kyle Horth has made the list for the second year in a row for his practice in Trusts and Estate Law.
John Fumero, partner, provides strategic legal counsel to a wide array of public and private sector clients throughout the State of Florida. He is board certified by the Florida Bar in State and Federal Governmental & Administrative Law. He formerly served as General Counsel to the South Florida Water Management District. His practice encompasses procurement, public/private partnerships, property rights, zoning/land use, environmental permitting, public works, including sunshine, ethics and public records laws, as well as litigation related to these areas of law in administrative, state & federal courts. Fumero is also a Florida Supreme Court-certified mediator.
Nathan “Nat” Nason, has practiced complex commercial litigation for over 25 years in South Florida and has developed substantial land use and environmental practices. He is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and a member of the Florida Bar. He is active in several community groups including: The Palm Beach County Bar Association, West Palm Beach Rotary Club and was a previous member of the Palm Beach County Environmental Appeal Board and Chair of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce in 2014-2015.
Gloria M. Velazquez, partner, has practiced law for 25 years and her practice areas include land acquisition, due diligence, land use and zoning, permitting and local government law representing local governments. Ms. Velazquez’ major representative projects include residential urban high-rises, residential large-scale suburban communities, mixed-use developments, retail, commercial, institutional, and utility siting. Ms. Velazquez has been recognized with various legal awards of distinction in her practice areas throughout her career. As a life-time Girl Scout mentor and volunteer, she currently serves on the Board of Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida.
Gary Walk, partner, practices real estate, business and banking law. His work includes purchases and sales of commercial and residential real estate, real estate debt and equity financing, leasing of real estate, formation and amendment of real estate and business entities, purchases and sales of businesses, purchases and sales of ownership interests in businesses, negotiation and drafting of contracts and general representation of for profit and not for profit entities. Mr. Walk is active in the community, he is a board member and former President of Palm Beach County Regional Office of American Jewish Committee, a member and former Chairman, Jewish Community Relations Council of Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, a Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer and President of Crystal Pointe Homeowners’ Association.
Katie W. Branscum, attorney, practices in the firm’s securities department, where her work primarily focuses on securities law compliance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and corporate governance. Katie advises clients on Exchange Act periodic reporting, disclosure issues, stock exchange listing requirements, private placements, and general corporate matters. She represents public and private clients across a variety of industries including banking, transportation, and energy.
Kyle C. Horth, attorney, focuses on the firm’s corporate, tax and estate planning departments where he provides effective counsel to individuals and businesses on a range of corporate, tax and transactional matters, including entity formation and funding, mergers and acquisitions, tax structures and other complex business transactions. Mr. Horth concentrates his trusts and estates practice on estate planning, trust and probate administration, federal income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxation.
