Palm Beach Gardens, FL – May 3, 2023 – On April 28, 2023, John Fumero and Susan Martin provided a presentation to 53 elected officials representing local governments and members of the Treasure Coast League of Cities (TCRLC). The 4-hour presentation revolved around the statutorily required annual continuing education requirements for elected officials regarding Florida’s public records law, open meetings law and ethics law.
“This is the third year in a row I will be presenting at TCRLC,” said John Fumero. “It has always been an honor and a privilege to speak in front of respected local government officials.”
TCRLC’s mission is to promote communication, collaboration and education among the 14 municipalities of Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties; encourage effective advocacy for home rule to all levels of government; foster excellence in local self-governance and represent the Treasure Coast with the Florida League of Cities.
John Fumero serves as special and general counsel to governmental entities and provides strategic legal counsel to a wide array of public and private sector clients throughout the State of Florida. His practice encompasses local government law, procurement, public/private partnerships, property rights, zoning/land use, environmental permitting, public works, including sunshine, ethics and public records laws, as well as litigation related to these areas of law in administrative, state & federal courts. He is also a Florida Supreme Court-certified mediator. Mr. Fumero is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in State and Federal Governmental and Administrative Law.
Susan Roeder Martin practices environmental and administrative law for a multitude of different clients including developers, mitigation banks, public entities, and others. She has practiced law for almost 40 years, formerly as a “practice expert attorney” with the South Florida Water Management District and earlier as a corporate attorney and Lobbyist with Florida Power and Light. Ms. Martin is Board certified. She is also a Supreme Court certified mediator and LEED accredited professional. She is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. She is a frequent author and speaker throughout the state on environmental law. She served as the Chair of the Environmental and Land Use Law section of the Florida Bar and was the founding member of the Florida Bar’s Environmental Resiliency Committee. She is also a Board Member of the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals.
